Good Night Shirt

The chestnut champion owns two Eclipse Awards, 11 stakes victories, smashed the single-season earnings mark he set in 2007 when winning five Grade I stakes from five starts in 2008. The Maryland-bred boasts eight Grade I victories, including the American Grand National, Iroquois (twice), Georgia Cup, Lonesome Glory (twice) and Colonial Cup (twice). The son of Concern won 13 career steeplechase races and led all NSA earners in 2008 with a record $485,520. His career bankroll of $1,006,493 places him second on the all-time NSA money list. Owned by Sonny Via and trained by Jack Fisher, Good Night Shirt retired in 2010 as just one of two steeplechase horses to win over $1 million.

Left Unsaid

Meet the sport's best first-year novice for 2009. This son of Dynaformer raced in California for trainer Bobby Frankel before being sold to the Fields Stable and trainer Tom Voss. He notched a maiden win in his hurdle debut at Strawberry Hill and then took Saratoga by storm, winning the M.G. Walsh Stakes, finishing second in the Jonathan Kiser Stakes and finishing third in a maiden on the turf. A second in the Metcalf Memorial at Monmouth pushed his 2008 earnings to $83,600. And then he won the best novice stakes of the year, the Foxbrook, at Far Hills, increasing his earnings (over jumps) to $137,700. Look for him to carry the flag for Tom Voss in 2010. Left Unsaid made his 2010 debut in the National Hunt Cup at Radnor, missing by a nose.

A major player on the timber scene, the two-time champion has earned over $400,000 during his lengthy jump career and, after winning two stakes in seven days in 2010, became the 19th leading earner in the sport's history. He led the timber division in 2004 and again in 2008, setting a NSA record $110,250. After posting three wins over hurdles (by a combined 62 3/4 lengths), he’s won 10 timber races including victories in the Virginia Gold Cup (twice), International Gold Cup, Grand National, Ski Roundtop and Mason Houghland (twice) stakes. In 2010, he won two stakes in seven days to collect $90,000.

We liked this one so much we kept him for the house. Owned by Riverdee Stable (that's us), the 8-year-old son of With Approval won his debut at Callaway Gardens with a 4 1/2-length score in a $25,000 Sport of Kings maiden hurdle in 2008. The following year, he finished second in the Sport of Kings Novice stakes at Atlanta and won the Appleton Stakes at Far Hills in October. He kicked off his 2010 season with two strong seconds, in a $30,000 allowance at Atlanta and in the $50,000 Marcellus Frost at Nashville. He'll rest for the summer and return for a fall campaign, hopefully over his favorite course, Far Hills.

Jack Fisher and Arcadia Stable purchased this son of Royal Anthem in the summer after he campaigned on the flat at Arlington Park. Fisher and jockey Willie Dowling educated him at Virginia Fall and then unleashed him with a powerful win in the Gladstone, the $50,000 stakes at Far Hills. The win clinched the 3-year-old honors championship.

Rare Bush

Four-time winner over jumps notched his biggest career score in October, taking the Grade III Appleton Stakes at Far Hills. Son of Dynaformer finished a game second in three consecutive novice stakes – coming within a length of the winner in the Grade I AFLAC U.S. Championship in 2006 and the Grade II Carolina Cup and Grade II Temple Gwathmey in 2007. He finished third in the $45,000 Imperial Cup at Aiken in March and recently won an optional allowance hurdle at Stoneybrook by 5 lengths. The 9-year-old bay has hit the board in nine of his 11 career jump starts and earned $123,000 to date.
